gonna put it here since I dont have an import section... heh
Well... I did it again, bought another car, so here we go, My first Volksrod... I found a nice "solid" Baja bug on craigslist. Runs great and road ready, came with a lot of extra steel, 3 motors, 2 of them run, and well.... I did what anyone would do with a solid bug, got some friends together and cut that bitch :-)

we started with the standard removal of the glass, removed the cage that was in it, and taped it off, this time, unlike my 36, we measured several times.

What the look I wanted to go for is lower the front, notch the back and keep the back normal height, I wanted a 3 window coupe look, should be nice when done :-)

Not too bad, pied the doors, front windows ruffed in, Baja front off.... I can start to see the look, next is the 10 inch front extension with the 2 1/2 inch drop :-) I just bought an entire front clip we will graft on after the extension is in place :-)

Wow. I woulda killed for that thing back in Jr. High. We had a '64 with a '62 motor in it and I soooo wanted to Baja it. Your bug looks like like it had half of the JC Whitney catalog bolted to it!! You gonna do up the motor too? Ours had a burned valve; flat out in 4th it'd to 55mph.

Re: gonna put it here since I dont have an import section...
The motor in it is a rebuilt 1650 .... it runs fantastic! The second motor is also a 1600 rebuilt with about 500 miles on it, the 3rd motor is a parts motor... I maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the road build one of the others but for now, we're just doing the body Thanks Outlaw.... I am nuts hehehehe I'm already in love this this bug lol

more updates :-) We removed the rear engine cage, removed the front end, cleaned up some metal a bit and installed the 10 extention built buy Dman41 ... solid piece and very happy with it :-) Had to re adjust the steering a bit.

Re: gonna put it here since I dont have an import section...
I love the new look, it doesn't sit as low as I would like, so we have to figure on if we want to put in a adjustable front or just go with some lower spindles... I think I'll make the choice after the new front end is on it and see where she sits with the added weight. I have no idea how this thing got so high in the first place.

You gonna leave it fenderless in the front?

Re: gonna put it here since I dont have an import section...
I had a 73 at one time. I didnt get crazy with the body work, I simply welded new floors in it. I hit the stock 250K mile engine with a single nitrous nozzle and ended up burning a hole through one of the heads and welding the jug to the head. Took it all apart and rebuilt it with a 1915cc big bore kit, fly cut the jugs to bump compression, case savers, mofoco ported and welded heads, some high performance cam, dual 44mm down draft webber carbs, high pressure clutch, merged header with stinger exhaust, etc. Man, it was one bad mofo after I did all that. Put on a set of wheel adapters and 15x8 Weld draglites in the rear and 15x4 in the front. I used to be able to take 12sec cars in the 1/8 but after that they would blow around me. Ran 15.10 in the 1/4 but 60' like a 12 sec car. You can really make those things fly. If you make too much power, the transmissions become the weak link. I put 4 of them in my car, used to wipe them out every few months.

Oh yeah, cool car BTW, should look sick when you are done. I never had the balls to jump on the body work like that. I would love another one some day.
