Post 67 Coronet.... is it worth it?
Hey muscle car guys. Know someone selling a 1967 Coronet with a 318 in it. Pics of the car below. They say is runs but needs work. They want $2400 for it.... is the car worth it?

Wow that pic brings back some memories. My GTX was a '67.

Prolly have to defer to Khyron on the value - I would say no (mostly 'cause it's a 4-door) but then the prices on these things have gotten ridiculous since I got out of the MoPar Biz...

I can say that an RB motor (383 and up) will fit into that thing with room to spare and is capable of motoring it along quite smartly. The combination of weight, build quality (like a bank vault), and torsion bar front suspension made my '67 the best riding car I've ever owned...

I agree with Metal. 4 door + 318 small block + needs work = no more the $1000

not even close to worth $2400.

Though Mopars have gone up in price, it's for the more desirables, Roadrunners , chargers, GTX, ect.... even the small block cars are getting some decent money, but that has 2 too many doors on it, if it was a 2 door, i would say yes it's close to the value, unfortunatoly, the extra doors kill the value.

and OMFG on the Joe Dirt foot gas pedal!, cracked dash, engine compartment is black, should be body color, I would hate to see what it's hiding, don't look like a straight body line on the whole car, looks like it needs quarters and no one makes the quarters for a 4 door coronet, so it would have to be used...

it's sad but there is a whole lot of nothing right there.

Thanks Metal and Khyron. Just wanted to make sure I was not walking away from an opportunity. Apparently I would be better off running from it. :lol:

I noticed most of the body problems right off, didn't know about the engine bay. I am guessing this is a poor repaint. Didn't know how bad the 4 door thing hurt it... but it makes sense. No aftermarket for replacement parts! No way we're touching that!

Good call. Run away from that one.

Hell, If you're looking for a resto project, I'll sell my Olds for a grand. It's not as desirable as the same year Nova, but it's almost identical, uses the same parts, and probably holds more valure than that Coronet.

Mostly just stumbling. Like I said, I/we didn't want to miss an opportunity if it was one. Whether or not I (or actually my brother) am looking for something would depend on the cool factor and the price. Why, what have you got?

don't have anything im selling, just figured i would keep my eyes open for you if i find something, 2 months ago if i had known i was told about a 1960 Ford Thunderbird, big block stick car for sale for $1200, solid southern car, it didn't last long, almost thought about buying it for myself, but then i would get killed by my wife hehe

ok then.... how about this one: what's it worth?

I kind have been looking for a Falcon to to a resto mod... but ran across a 1968 Plymouth Valiant 2 door...

where do these things rust out? .. anything to be careful of underneath?

Would this be a good start... and would it be worth anything when done? Probably looking at a modern 318 transplant and tubbing to fit rear street slicks... or perhaps a modern Hemi.

1968 Plymouth Valiant 100. It's a two door hard top. It has a 225 slant six with power steering and power brakes, 904 automatic transmission and 7 1/4 rear axle. We installed new brakes, new RH thread wheel studs on all four hubs, new tires including the spare, tune up, new battery bracket, new driver's side floor pan, New interior carpet including truck area. We also have some new parts that have not been installed yet (interior/exterior trim parts) a long with a spare cylinder head a long with a service manual and wiring diagram book just for this vehicle.

Most of the body work has already been done, there is just some spots that will have to be touched up and it will be ready for paint. The trunk, floors, and underside are all solid. The car, starts, runs, drives, and stops without any issues. This would be a great vehicle for someone who wants a cruiser or an easy project that is road worth. I have a lot of pics that I can email or you can come and see it in person.

good looking car, the 100's are a base model, but the body looks solid, they usually rot at the shock towers and spring mounts in the back, my mothers /6 66 dart as nice, solid, and ran good, I got it for about $1500.

Without looking closer... and with it being more of a rare find, I would say she's about a $2000ish car... the slant 6 on it though would be a penilty... If it had the 318 in it... they could probubly get more, also not a huge after market for some body parts, but being a 67+ the aftermarket has lots of partials and floors for it... I like it, very nice car.

I would low ball it if I where you... whats he asking for it? again, remember, the 100 is a base model.

67 was the first 318 if I remember correctly, the 273 v8 was 66 and back

all small blocks including the /6 will take the same trannie... 906 and 727 small block trans all work fine.
