New Charger???
Well its been a while since i've posted in here and i figured this is a good honest opinion board. I'm thinkin about ditching my truck and beater car and going to one good (new) vehicle.....now what do you dodge boys think of the new charger? i'm looking at that or a magnum. both R/T i can get them at 1% below invoice. It would be a few months before i can purchase one, but i wanna start shopping and researching now. Everyone that i see and read about loves their magnums, but there isnt much on chargers yet. Whatever vehicle i get, going to be 4dr so might as well get something with a V8 in it atleast!

utt ohhh, you have a can opener for those worms?
well. as a car. I'm hearing it's good. But it's no Charger. From what I hear. The handling is good, but only on the V8. The V6 can't get out of it's own way. it's a heavy car.
The name will be a problem though. Old Charger fans don't like this car. or at least most of them <see http://www.dodge-charger.com , the car has a stigma of sorts.
The Magnum is damn sweet. IMHO though. a bit on the pricy side.

Just watched a full review by Tom Kendall on speedchannel for the new Charger. He really liked it. Handling was a nice compromise between sport and comfort, interior comfy if a little on the bland side (as all new Dodge's seem to be) and he was enjoying the Hemi his was equipped with .
Cheers, Lee S.

What do you want to do with the car?
In other words, what are you expecting from it? Performance? Utility? Etc...
...otherwise it's hard to comment on anything other than the looks and its' name.
One thing I have heard about the Magnums is that their traction control system works very well in the wintertime.

i'm probably gonna drive it..duhhh lol....
i'm just looking for a good driving, not overly gas hungry vehicle, that i can tow my bike trailer with if need be (the magnum has a pretty cool hitch setup)....i definately know the charger is not a "Charger"....but in the car itself (not compared to the original chargers) i would say it looks to be a good all around car. I think the magnum is more unique though and i'm a unique vehicle kinda guy....i dont know i'll probably just go buy a new gmc truck anyways

Ah OK.
Sounds to me like the Charger or Magnum would be a fine fit. The problem with the new model Charger IMHO is basically down to the lineage...I owned a Charger ('73) and don't consider the new one to be any more of a Charger as I did the Plymouth Volare they tried to pass off as a "Road Runner". ..or the Omni 024 "Charger"
With the name comes a reputation. The new car isn't able to walk the walk like the old ones did. Just having 4 doors puts it out of the category for me. I think you'll be getting comments like that from old MoPar guys all the time if you drive the new Charger.
The Magnum looks to be a lot more useful, and like you said unique. Plus it's been out in circulation for a while and worst come to worst you could pick up a low-mileage used one and beat the depreciation feature.
IMHO if you want a Dodge Charger the newest one worth buying was made in 1974.

You never let me down
I'll agree with Metal on this 100%. Th emagnum is a great solid choice, and I saw one run at the valley on Mopar day, it was pretty quick.
If you like the new Charger. Then so be it, but I will say, If you bring it to a car show with Mopars in it, grow a thick skin, some of the guys out there are just harsh.

I'll agree 102%!!
To me, it's just sad what Dodge has done with the Charger name.
They could have called it the Magnum R/T or someting like that & nobody would have batted an eye...in fact they might have really raised a few eyebrows, because it would have been considered a sportier Magnum!
Instead, they tried to recycle a legendary name to promote sales of a semi-new car.
It's just as rediculous as if GM decided to put Camaro badges on the next station wagon they make...it just won't be received well at all by the general enthusiast.
Anyway Slinky, if you wanna buy one, go ahead. Just strip off the Charger badges, add some clear taillights & Lund stick-on hood scoops & you'll blend right in.

cough mustang..cough cough...i see stangs pulling everything from trailors to uhauls...with a simple dealer mod prior to signing papers you can have a hitch installed that looks half way decent..and mods are fairly cheep...and beleve it or not the stock 3.27 gears do just fine.
