Minimum tread depth?
need to get my truck inspected, whats the minimum tread depth for my tires to pass inspection?

Hard to believe 2/32" (aka 1/16?) is OK but it is.
I recall hearing of the old "penny trick" to eyeball your depths. And so apparantly has google:

Yeah, but I guess they can measure it anywhere on the tire. If you have been underinflating the tires, sometimes the edges will wear out pretty quickly. But... if you have pretty good tire wear, I guess that 1/16 is not much is it? I tend to drive fast in the winter, so I will probably have new meats put on before it snows anyway. I would meet inspection, but I would be hydroplane waiting to happen.

used to be it had to have at least 2/32 in 2 adjacent locations. Been out of the biz for 6 years, don't know if that has changed.
