All it would need is a standard bore 318 (i'm guessing the 318 on the garage floor wouldn't make that spec)......a cage, a seat and harness, and brakes.....the 71 is a standard....the 73 is an auto.....
Are the front ends on these things any good?

If it's a torsion-bar front end then it's near bulletproof and even tunable for ride-height right from the factory.
The torsion front end on my '67 GTX was awesome. Still one of the best-handling cars I've owned.

Hmmm, my co-worker didn't get ahold of you yet, Lyman? I gave him your info. I'll hit him up tomorrow.
Cheers, Lee S.

no not yet lee....,
I checked the numbers myself on the duster w/340....the car originally came with a 318 but it DOES have a 340 in it now.
I think it does have tortion bars....hmmmmmm......If you can't run a firebird or camero by the rules....what else would be competative?....Maybe monte carlo?
I think I'm going over Sunday to see what they are running....anyone else want to go to the races?
I found a cage from Barrent's for $245....

Looks like pretty much the same rules as Pure Stock at the Valley. Except LV allows F-bodies. Looks like a lot of fun. Once my income catches up with my bills I've been thinking about building one.
